Protect key institutional assets, including infrastructure and data. A culture of information technology security will be pervasive throughout all services that ITS offers.

Collaboration and Communication

Partner with the community for sustained innovation and improvement.

  • Maintain a high level of communication integrity and transparency. Develop standards for communicating change management, information sharing, and system status.
  • Work closely and remain proactive with the community and partners to develop a communication network that identifies opportunities for innovation and improvement.
  • Foster a culture of technical literacy. Develop and support the technological knowledge of faculty, staff and students to guide safe practices, intelligent discussions and decisions.

Transparent and Fiscally-Responsible Decision Making

Evaluate and implement technology solutions to support the University鈥檚 strategic goals.

  • Provide standards-based services based on University and unit requirements.
  • Purchase solutions on standard architecture to increase system uniformity.
  • Assess customized solutions for value added and competitive advantage.
  • Decide the appropriate services and system stewardship needed for services along with assessing resource allocations for those services.

Scalable and Sustainable Technology Solutions

Deliver scalable and sustainable technology while providing campus satisfaction for flexible, easy-to-use technologies. Reduce technology complexity and diversity and foster an environment for evaluating the reuse of existing technology solutions to remain fiscally responsible.

  • Deliver technology solutions and partner with campus stakeholders to ensure business needs are met and reduce shadow systems and duplication of data.
  • Deliver or reuse existing, new, or emerging technologies which will look at the business process first and technology last.
  • Invest in training and development of the technology staff and the wider community to enhance technical and non-technical skills and growth through collaboration, focus groups, and decision making. Partner with campus stakeholders to ensure quick-to market release with encouraging appropriate training and supporting documentation be readily available.

Reliable and Flexible Infrastructure

Provide an infrastructure based on best practices for competitively-designed solutions limiting the amount of customizations. All solutions must work together and integrate as a whole.

Support the academic mission and align with Strategic Plan. Provide technological leadership to the academic units while maximizing investment and impact.

  • Make technology decisions based on academic mission and strategic plan goals.
  • Research emerging trends and recommend best practices.
  • Find creative ways to enhance the user experience.
