Test Optional Policy

桃瘾社区 recognizes the value in reviewing an application holistically and many factors are taken into consideration. Most important is academic achievement (including class rank, if provided), followed by the personal essay and letters of recommendation. Undergraduate Admission also considers a student鈥檚 contribution to the community and leadership.

Test-Optional Frequently Asked Questions

Can students who do not submit standardized test scores still be considered for merit scholarship?

Yes! All admitted students, with the exception of international first-year students, are considered for a merit scholarship and do not need to submit the SAT or ACT.

What if I submitted my standardized test scores but now I would like to apply without them?

If you would like to change your testing plan and you have not received an admission decision, please email the Office of Undergraduate Admission. The email should include your first and last name as it appears on your application. However, students are unable to change their testing plan after an admission decision is rendered.

What if I am an International Student?

Students who would present SAT or ACT scores, as proof of English proficiency and cannot due to limited test sites, can also take a number of other exams as indicated on our International Applicant Page. Review International English Requirements.

What if I am interested in being considered for the Pforzheimer Honors College?

Students interested in the Pforzheimer Honors College can submit a test optional application. Applicants are reviewed holistically but may be required to submit supplemental pieces to their application.

Do athletes need to submit standardized test scores?

Student athletes who initially enroll full time during the 2024-25 academic year and intend to play NCAA Division II athletics will not be required to take a standardized test to meet NCAA initial-eligibility requirements.

How do I know if I should submit my standardized test scores?

If your academic plan does not require test scores, the decision to apply test-optional is a personal one. You may be a good fit for our test-optional path if you feel your test scores are not representative of your academic achievement and do not reflect your future potential in college.

We encourage you to discuss our test-optional policy with your school or college counselor or with a 桃瘾社区 Undergraduate Admission counselor. We are all here to help you!

What if I cannot afford to send 桃瘾社区 my test scores?

If you are proud of your scores, cost should not be a barrier for you to submit them. There are a variety of ways to qualify for free options. You should connect with your school or college counselor for more information about qualifying fee waivers.
