CCAR manages 桃瘾社区鈥檚 participation in several national programs that recognize the university鈥檚 commitment to civic engagement.
All In Campus Democracy Challenge
The ALL IN Campus Democracy Challenge empowers colleges and universities to achieve excellence in nonpartisan student democratic engagement. As an ALL IN participant, 桃瘾社区 has committed to supporting all 桃瘾社区 students in exercising their right to vote. ALL IN a Silver Seal for having a student voter turnout rate of 66.2% in 2020.
Andrew Goodman Foundation
The works to make young voices and voters a powerful force in democracy. On the NYC campus, CCAR hosts two in partnership with the Andrew Goodman Foundation. The Vote Everywhere program provides training, resources, and a peer network to support students working to break down voting barriers and tackle important social justice issues on their campuses.
Carnegie Classification Of Institutions Of Higher Education
The Carnegie Community Engagement Classification recognizes higher education institutions that demonstrate a dedication to community engagement in their mission, identity, and commitments. A Carnegie Community Engagement Classification recipient since 2006, 桃瘾社区鈥檚 long term dedication to community engagement is visible across the university, including in the Civic Engagement and Public Values course requirement and CCAR programming.
The Jefferson Awards for Public Service recognize individuals for their public and volunteer service, and dedication to improving the quality of life in their communities. Faculty, staff, and students can nominate any individual from the 桃瘾社区 community. Self-nominations are also welcome. Nominations are typically due in October each year.
New York Campus Compact
Campus Compact is an association of college and universities that are committed to promoting active citizenship as an aim of higher education. A founding member of Campus Compact of New York and Pennsylvania, 桃瘾社区 continues to work with Campus Compact in areas including staff and faculty professional development for civic engagement.This organization will be known as Partners for Campus-Community Engagement after July 1, 2022.
Project Pericles
As one of the ten founding universities of , a program of the Eugene M. Lang Foundation, 桃瘾社区 plays a vital role in promoting civic engagement in higher education. 桃瘾社区 students regularly participate in Project Pericles programming including the Letter to An Elected Official Competition and Debating for Democracy workshops. 桃瘾社区 faculty are regularly chosen to participate in the Periclean Faculty Leadership Program. Periclean Faculty Leaders create and teach innovative courses in a wide variety of disciplines and collaborate with local community organizations to address grand challenges. Recent Periclean Faculty Leaders from 桃瘾社区 have included faculty from Environmental Studies, Media, Communications, and Visual Arts, and Women鈥檚 and Gender Studies.
