Risk and Resilience Research Lab

Risk and Resilience lab focuses on identifying the risk factors that increase individuals’ vulnerability to adversity, as well as the protective factors that promote positive psychological, educational, and health outcomes among vulnerable populations. Research activities of this lab involve:

  1. Understanding the risk and protective factors that influence individuals’ responses to traumatic life experiences, such as childhood maltreatment, life threatening illnesses or accidents, exposure to violence, and bereavement,
  2. Exploring the effects of trauma exposure and mental health on college students’ development
  3. Identifying the individual and societal factors that influence health and health disparities.

Student Requirements: Students will work with Dr. Boyraz on an individual basis. Mentored lab students are required to provide 4 hours of RA work.
