Mission Statement

Our Values
Integrity
The Office of Community Standards strives to provide a transparent process that ensures student rights are upheld. Through the UGP, GTRL, and the Student Handbook we hold our students to the highest standards of ethics and integrity. The process is intended to hold students accountable while developing students holistically.
Responsibility
Through the student conduct process, OCS helps students gain a greater awareness of self and develop a sense of purpose and civic responsibility. While cultivating responsible and ethical behavior, OCS creates a community of mutual respect among students, faculty, staff, and off-campus partners.
Equity
OCS acknowledges that social inequities impact our students. We work to balance this understanding with efforts to execute a process in a consistent and thoughtful manner. When these are in conflict, we strive to honor the experiences of students and seek an outcome that helps students involved be successful.
Excellence
OCS provides a quality experience for campus and community partners who interact with the office. We are committed to using best practices to inform our work and assessment to improve the student conduct process.
Collaboration
OCS partners with students, faculty, staff, and community members to collectively make the University community a positive learning environment. By supporting students holistically, we work to ensure that they can partner with our staff to seek impartial and equitable outcomes.
Respect
OCS staff understands that our students, staff, and faculty have individual experiences, knowledge, and inherent human biases. We value what is shared and work to honor those experiences while holding students accountable. We provide opportunities for students to learn about and understand the multiplicity of others鈥 experiences thoughtfully and respectfully.
Compassion
OCS honors the challenges that students experience. We strive to ensure that students feel empathy, care, and support for their success and growth. OCS is thoughtful and caring in our interactions with colleagues and the campus community.
