In keeping with ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø’s policy of nondiscrimination on the basis of gender identity or actual or perceived sex, ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø allows individuals to use a sex-specific restroom and/or locker room facility that corresponds to their gender identity and/or legal sex. Individuals who must be accompanied by a different gender attendant, guardian, or adult may use a gender-specific facility if necessary.

Restrooms on ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø Campuses
Terminology:
All-Gender Restroom
A restroom that anyone, regardless of their gender, can use. This can be single- or multi-stall.
Multi-Stall Restrooms
A restroom with multiple toilets and/or urinals.
Single-Stall Restrooms
A restroom with only one urinal and/or toilet that is meant to be used by only one person at a time, unless that person is being accompanied by a parent, family member, and/or an attendant.
Accessible Restrooms
To comply with necessary specifications, the restroom must have a grab bar (mounted on the side wall next to the toilet), a clear circle of at least 60 inches to allow a wheelchair to turn (the door can swing into this circle), 36-inch wide doors, and the sinks shouldn't be mounted higher than 34 inches from the floor and should have a knee clearance of at least 27 inches high, 30 inches wide, and 19 inches deep.
Accessible Multi-stall
A restroom with multiple toilet stalls with one or more stalls that comply with the accessible restroom specifications listed above.
Accessible Single-stall
A restroom that has only one toilet that is meant to be used by only one person at a time, unless that person is being accompanied by a parent, family member, and/or an attendant and is compliant with the accessible restroom specifications listed above.
Accessible ADA compliant restroom
The restroom has an option for the door to open automatically when you press a button, as well as complies with accessible restroom specifications listed above.
New York City Administrative and Classroom Buildings
One ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø Plaza:
C-Level (Gym)
No all-gender bathrooms or locker rooms.
B-level
Two all-gender, single-stall, accessible restrooms (located behind Auxiliary Services on the East Side at the Spruce Street entrance). When you are looking at the bathrooms, the one on the right is for ADA use (meaning it has an option for the door to open automatically when you press a button).
1st Floor
One single-stall, all-gender bathroom (W111). Clearly labeled as accessible for people with disabilities.
Library
No accessible bathrooms or single-stall bathrooms on the second floor of the Library.
2nd Floor (West Side)
- No single-stall or all-gender restrooms.
- Accessibility is limited.
- Male restroom near elevator is not accessible. Male restroom near LHW, the wheelchair accessible stall is too small.
- Female restroom near elevators is not accessible. Female restroom near LHW has visible signage, but no space to maneuver a chair.
3rd Floor
- No single-stall or all-gender restrooms.
- Four multi-stall, gender segregated restrooms (one male, one female on the West Side; one male, one female on the East Side).
- Accessibility is limited.
- West Side restrooms are not accessible.
- East Side restrooms have no private stall with a hand rail and the double-door entrance to male bathrooms is difficult to maneuver.
4th Floor–6th Floor
No single-stall, accessible, or all-gender restrooms.
156 William Street:
- There are two floors used by ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø: 5 (McShane, Alumni Development, Human Resources, Legal counsel) and 8 (Counseling Center and Disability Services).
- No single-stall, all-gender, or accessible restrooms.
161 William Street:
- 16 single-stall, accessible restrooms. One on each of the following floors: 2, 4-8, 10-20. Two on floor 22.
- Two single-stall accessible restrooms. One on each of the following floors: 4 and 10.
41 Park Row:
One locked, single-stall, all-gender accessible restroom on the tenth floor near Schaeberle Theater. Must get a key at the security desk on the first floor. Floors 2–16 alternate between male and female multi-stall, gender-segregated restrooms (female restrooms are locked and accessible by key only).
New York City Residence Halls:
Maria’s Tower
- Two single-stall, all-gender restrooms, and one single-stall shower on floors 15, 16 and 17 for community use. At least one of these single stall bathrooms on each floor is accessible. All single showers on these three floors are accessible.
- Two to three rooms on the 5th floor have private restrooms in the rooms.
- Floors 4–12 and 14 are all multi-stall, gender segregated restrooms with two communal showers in each. Not structured for students with wheelchairs.
106 Fulton Street
- All residences have private restrooms and showers. Rooms numbered 404 and 504 are single occupancy resident halls and are ADA accessible for people with mobility disabilities. Floors 6–15 are not space accommodating for wheelchairs.
John Street
- All restroom are in-room private facilities.
- One single-stall restroom on the first floor (marked accessible) with limited access (for residents and their guests).
182 Broadway
- All bathrooms are in-room, private facilities.
- All bathrooms in 11 and 12 rooms on each floor are accessible (private facilities).
33 Beakman
- Private restrooms in all dorms. All-gender, single-stall restrooms on the first floor.
