Student Leadership Opportunities

Westchester Campus

  • The Resident Assistant is a student liaison between the Office of Residential Life & Housing and the residents. The Resident Assistant's primary function is to uphold and enforce University policies and procedures, and to foster a sense of community within the hall. The RA is a student leader employed by the University who is concerned with the growth and welfare of each individual as well as with groups of individuals in the residence hall. The RA's provide programming in the residence halls. Information about applying to be an RA for the following year is typically available early in the Fall semester.   • The Residence Hall Association (RHA) is comprised of an Executive Board of residential students. The RHA serves as the governing organization for residence halls and represents resident student interests to the University at large. RHA sponsors several programs each semester for resident students, and has gained recognition for its charitable activities. For the past several years, RHA has sponsored campus wide programming.

  • The National Residence Hall Honorary (NRHH) is the premiere honorary supported by the leading international organization advocating for the interests and welfare of residence hall students, while also providing opportunities for their personal growth and development. NRHH strives to provide recognition for individuals who have contributed to the advancement of college and university housing. It ensures the advancement of member chapters through resource sharing, programming, and leadership development opportunities to contribute and support the vision of the National Association of College and University Residence Halls, Incorporated.

  • The RA Council serves as a leadership and advocacy board comprised of Resident Assistants of the Office of Residential Life & Housing. It's primary function is provide an opportunity for our student staff to discuss department wide initiatives, play an active role in decision making, and provide an outlet for advocating on behalf of the entire RA staff. RA Council is lead by a chair and co-chair who are returner staff members and recognized leaders within our department. The general body of the council consists of a representative from each community. RA Council has led the department in a number of initiatives including, staff selection procedures, defining compensation packages for RA staff and providing feedback on a number of critical areas.
