Biography

Faculty Bio

Dr. Weihua Niu received a B.A in Psychology from Beijing Normal University and a M.S. in educational psychology from the Chinese Academic of Sciences (CAS) while working as an educational psychologist there. She received her Ph.D. in Cognitive Psychology from Yale University in 2003 and joined as an assistant professor in 2003. She is now a full-professor in the Department of Psychology at the Downtown campus.

Research and Creative Works

Research Interest

She is internationally known for her research in creativity, cross-cultural psychology, educational testing, and comparative education, with more than 30 publications on peer reviewed journals such as “Psychology Review,” “International Journal of Psychology “Comparative Education”,“ Journal of Theoretical and Philosophical Psychology”,“ Psychology in the Schools”,” Journal of Creative Behavior,” and “Psychology of Aesthetics, creativity, and the Arts.” She helped establishing the Confucius Institute at and became the first Director of the Institute in 2009.
