Biography

Adjunct Professor Robin Frankel is a supervising attorney in the Barbara Salken Criminal Justice Clinic at Haub Law. A career public defender, she began practicing in 1987 in the Legal Aid Society Criminal Defense Division鈥檚 Manhattan office, and she currently practices at its South Bronx office. She has tried over 60 cases to verdict. She is also a senior union delegate representing staff attorneys in disciplinary hearings initiated by management of the Legal Aid Society.

Professor Frankel was the lead petitioner in a successful First Amendment challenge to a court order to remove a union button in court, Frankel v Roberts, 165 A.D. 2d 382 (1st Dept 1991). She serves as a mentor for junior attorneys, externs and interns. She has created a training on the handling of a felony designed for junior attorneys. Additionally, Professor Frankel has supervised Family Services of Westchester鈥檚 Juvenile Law Program where she trained Haub Law students to conduct 鈥淜now Your Rights鈥 and criminal law workshops for middle-school students. She is a frequent moot and mock trial judge, as well as a National Institute for Trial Advocacy program participant at Columbia, Hofstra, CUNY and NY Law schools. She was recently also a panelist at Cardozo Law School鈥檚 鈥淚nterviewing for Public Sector Jobs.鈥
