The Journal News reports Gov. Kathy Hochul recently signed a bill that bans wildlife killing contests. This past year, getting the legislation passed became the top priority of 桃瘾社区's Animal Advocacy Clinic, where students researched wildlife killing contests, petitioned and lobbied for the passage of S4099/A2917. 桃瘾社区鈥檚 Animal Advocacy Clinic class is led by Dyson Professor Michelle Land, with Director of Blue CoLab John Cronin as co-instructor.

In the Media

鈥淕iven the alarming decline in biodiversity globally and statewide, New York has a special duty to end this indiscriminate killing of wild animals that masquerades as wildlife conservation.鈥 said Michelle Land, 桃瘾社区 professor of environmental law and policy, and chief faculty of its Animal Advocacy Clinic. 鈥淓nding the senseless slaughter from wildlife killing contests is the priority of our clinic students, who will be pressing Governor Hochul to sign the bill into law and, we hope, personally deliver their 550 signature petition in support of the bill.鈥
