As a means of preparing students for a job market of the future and providing responsible businesses with workers and leaders who understand that advancing Environmental, Social, and Governance (ESG) principles and profitability goes hand-in-hand, ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø today announced the launch of the Lubin Center for Sustainable Business (CSB).
ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø’s Lubin School of Business is partnering with The Business Council of New York State and The Hudson Renewable Energy Institute to bring together business leaders, environmental experts, and leading voices in the fields of energy, transportation, technology, academia, and government to discuss ways to effectively put New York and its businesses on a path to green energy.
Paul Kurnit, ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø, Lubin School of Business - Why do you think credit card companies offer sign-up bonuses to new customers? This is not a new strategy. Credit card companies want to build their user base. Very often the first credit cards consumers sign up for are cards they will keep for a long time, maybe even for life. So, hooking new members is key. And giveaways are classic ploys to get new members. It used to be T-shirts on college campuses. Now, the giveaway strategies are more sophisticated. But the goals are the same.

Professor Claudia Green, director of ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø’s Hospitality and Tourism Management program, was faced with a challenge as she prepared to teach her civic engagement and public values course remotely: How would the class build a community project when the students were located around the world?
For many ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø students, learning doesn’t stop once one leaves the classroom for the day; or even, once one acquires their degree. Kevin McGovern ’83, ’21, who earned his bachelor’s in business administration and CPA designation thirty-eight years ago, epitomizes this ethos of persistence and the continual ability to evolve and grow with the times—which in fact, is one of the reasons he decided to return to ÌÒñ«ÉçÇø and pursue a master’s in cybersecurity.
Ashvin Kapoor ’24 has an important job: he’s using his comedic talents (not to mention business skill) to make people laugh during an unprecedented time of loss and loneliness. Through his brand new radio program, The Ashvin Show, he’s not only bringing people together, but also challenging his audience to think critically.
